In recent years there have been some major advances in technology that have been incorporated in the delivery of dental care. We have embraced many of these tools as we love what we can now do for our patients, giving them superior results with a more efficient use of their time.

Digital radiography
Digital radiography has been a part of Seattle Periodontics and Implant Dentistry since 2000. We were early adopters and quickly appreciated the benefit of the instantaneous capture of radiographic images. This technology has given us the opportunity to archive, review and share radiographs without loss of quality over time. Our patients have a far superior image to review and equally as important they have been exposed to much less radiation because of the added sensitivity of the digital media.

3D radiography - CBCT: Cone Beam Computed Tomography provides us with three dimensional views of oral structures rather than just the traditional two dimensional views that dentists have relied upon for years. It gives us spatially correct information that helps us identify potential surgical complications and it allows us investigate structures that are abnormal and possibly matters of concern. The CBCT data is layered with our digital impression data (STL) to permit fabrication of surgical guides for precision placement of implants. Intra-oral digital scanner: This technology is fast, simple and involves no messy materials. The end product is a precise digital representation of the teeth. The data can be sent electronically to the dental lab or the rest of the dental team, greatly simplifying communication. (3Shape-Trios)

Air Quality - High Volume Extra-Oral Suction - ADS Dental Systems: Our aim with this technology is to capture the aerosol at its source. These particular units have built in HEPA filtration with 99.99% efficiency to trap particles of 0.3µ. In addition, they have the ability to dry the moist aerosol as it enters the system and lastly, they incorporate a UVC light that ultimately kills viruses and bacteria. More Information

Air Quality - Individual placed HEPA filter-air purifiers: We aim to capture most of the aerosol with the Extra Oral Dental Suction units and any remaining dispersal is to be addressed via stand-alone air purifiers (HEPA filters) that are positioned in each patient care area as well as the front office. These units capture 99.97% allergens and biomaterials from the air with a 360°ree; intake for a room air exchange rate of 5+ times per hour. Digital Photography: The ability to quickly capture, review, share and archive digital images is very important to us. We can study these images without the need for the patient to remain in the office and they can be used to easily communicate with the other dentists on the team as needed. The pictures tell a story of what we start with and it lets us evaluate our outcomes. It helps us convey conditions and circumstances to our patients, their insurance companies, colleagues, and students. Our practice is highly focused on achieving aesthetic results and digital photography is an integral part of the way we practice, allowing us to provide a superior service to our patients.
